The lecture represents part of Jeffrey Hamburgers on-going research on the scriptorium of Paradies, which produced among the most elaborated illuminated liturgical manuscripts of the entire Middle Ages.
Prof. Dr. Jeffrey Hamburger
Jeffrey Hamburger is Professor of History of Art & Architecture at
Harvard University. He has published widely on medieval manuscript
illumination and on monasticism, mysticism and the arts, above all, in
the context of female monasticism. Together with a group of colleagues
from Germany and Switzerland, he organized the exhibition, Krone und
Schleier: Kunst aus mittelalterlichen Frauenkloestern (Bonn-Essen,
2005). He is in Germany as a guest of the Humboldt-Stiftung.
