DESCRIPTION:This lecture will present the history of an innovative pro
 ject launched in the 1960s by Marie-Madeleine Gauthier\, as well as it
 s findings\, which highlight the extraordinary spread of this producti
 on throughout the medieval West. Drawing on ongoing research\, notably
  the publication in the AGORHA database of crosses preserved in German
 y and the digitisation of some of MMG’s records\, we shall consider 
 the future of long-term research projects.
