The Building of the National Assembly of Slovenia as an Art Historical Monument
In early 1959, after more than 5 years of work, the new palace of the National Assembly of the People’s Republic of Slovenia was ceremoniously opened in Ljubljana. The building's architecture and the commissioned artistic decoration were supposed to reflect the highest achievements of Slovenian art and at the same time represent the ruling elite's vision of the new state.
Focusing especially on the artistic decoration of the building, the dissertation project studies various aspects of the commission in a broader (art) historical context and thus aims to reach new findings on Slovenian post-war art and the artistic policy of the socialist state.
