Robert Simon: The Salvator Mundi of Leonardo da Vinci. Chronicle of a Discovery
Der Vortrag ist Teil der Vortragsreihe Zum 500. Todestag von Leonardo da Vinci.
In November 2017 Leonardo’s Salvator Mundi was sold at auction for a price of $450 million dollars, the highest price ever paid for a work of art. Its new-found celebrity has obscured both its art-historical significance and has led to speculation about its origins, authorship, and provenance. Robert Simon, an art historian and art dealer, was one of the discoverers of the painting, and will discuss the painting’s journey from the collection of King Charles I to obscurity in Louisiana, and the research and conservation that established its authenticity.
In Kooperation mit dem Istituto Italiano die Cultura, München.
