Vita

Maria Teresa Chicote completed the BA in Art History (Complutense University, Spain) in 2013 and the MA in Art History, Curatorship and Renaissance Culture (Warburg Institute, United Kingdom) in 2014. After completing her PhD thesis at the Warburg Institute in 2020, she worked for two years at Durham University (United Kingdom) as a Postdoctoral Research Associate and in January 2022 she joined the Art History Department of the Spanish University for Distance Education as a Postdoctoral Researcher.
Her research investigates the ways in which cultural and artistic patronage were used to showcase and alter memorial discourses in the transition between the medieval and the early modern periods, with a special focus on the Iberian Peninsula. She has collaborated with various international research projects and the results of her work have been published in several articles in peer-reviewed journals and books. At the same time, she has also taught several art history courses at the University College London (UK), University of Piura (Peru), University Nova of Lisboa and University Aberta (Portugal) and Spanish University for Distance Education.
