Dr. Tico Seifert

Tico Seifert has been Senior Curator of Northern European Art at the National Galleries of Scotland (NGS) since 2008. He received his PhD from Freie Universität Berlin, where he taught art history from 2003. Tico has published and lectured widely on German, Dutch and Flemish art from the 1500s to about 1900, including artists such as Adam Elsheimer, Pieter Lastman, and Rembrandt. At NGS, Tico has organised exhibitions on themes ranging from Dürer’s Fame to Dutch Mannerism and seventeenth-century Flemish drawings, and from Vermeer and Rembrandt to nineteenth-century Norwegian and Swiss landscape paintings. His recent publications include articles on the British printmaker, John Baptist Jackson and the disabled German draughtsman and calligrapher, Matthias Buchinger, and the catalogue accompanying the NGS exhibition Dürer to Van Dyck: Drawings from Chatsworth House.
