Lektüreseminar: Diletta Gamberini: The Medicean Poet-Artists and the Michelangelesque Paradigm

Current Research. Lektüreseminar am Zentralinstitut für Kunstgeschichte. Das Lektüreseminar diskutiert jüngst publizierte Arbeiten oder aber weitgehend abgeschlossene Manuskripte. Die Texte werden vier Wochen im Voraus an die TeilnehmerInnen verschickt und dann gemeinsam mit den AutorInnen diskutiert.

Diletta Gamberini is a philologist and literary scholar by training. Her main research interests now revolve around the intersections between literature and the visual arts in Renaissance Italy, with a special focus on Cinquecento Florence. She received a Doctorate in Italian Studies from the Universities of Florence, Paris 4-Sorbonne and Bonn. Before coming to Munich as a Humboldt postdoctoral fellow at the LMU’s Art History Department (academic host: Prof. Dr. Ulrich Pfisterer), she taught at Middlebury College’s School in Italy and held fellowships from Villa I Tatti – The Harvard University Center for Italian Renaissance Studies, Columbia University’s Italian Academy for Advanced Studies, and the Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florenz. She has published a book that offers the first close study of Benvenuto Cellini’s poems, and her most recent contributions have appeared in journals including I Tatti Studies, the Mitteilungen des Kunsthistorischen Institutes in Florenz, and Dante Studies; in 2017 the article “Vincenzo Danti’s Deceits”, which she co-authored with Michael Cole, was awarded the Renaissance Society of America’s William Nelson Prize for the best article published in Renaissance Quarterly in the previous year. Currently she is at work on the book project The Poetry of Artists at the Court of Florence, 1537-1587.
