Online-Vortrag // Sina Brückner-Amin: The Greenest Playground. Planting Los Angeles, 1930
When in 1930 the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce introduced the document "Parks, Playgrounds and Beaches for the Los Angeles Region" to the local public, it included detailed plan for the city's transformation into a green urban landscape, pervaded by parkways and public spaces. The landscape architects Olmsted Brothers and Harland Bartholomew worked for three years on the study, which was not implemented in the city's development politics - with devastating consequences. Still, it is an example on what images of a landscape tell about a city and how they can be functionalized for infrastructure, tourism and profitability.
Sina Brückner-Amin studied Art History, Media Studies and American Studies at Goethe-University Frankfurt, where she also received her master's degree in Curatorial Studies in 2018. Since then, she is a researcher and lecturer at the Chair for Architectural History and Curatorial Practice at TU Munich. Her writings appeared in several exhibition catalogues of Architecture Museum Munich and Deutsche Börse Photography Foundation, as well as in Kunstchronik, der architekt and the online magazines Passe-Avant and Reflektor M.
