Since February 2022 and the beginning of the war in Ukraine, the use of fragments of weapons to create rings, bracelets or pendants has become a common phenomenon in Ukrainian jewelry-making. From downed aircraft parts to tank armor panels, from shell casings to artillery shrapnel: deadly objects employed to maim or kill are processed to become brass, aluminum, steel or titanium ornaments of various sizes and shapes made by renowned jewelers or lesser-known metal workers. My aim during this presentation is to propose a categorization of these creations to apprehend the scale of this wartime transformation of jewelry-making.
